Ravishankar Bhooplapur completes 14 years as XUSOM president

Woodbury, NY: Indian-American Ravishankar Bhooplapur has completed fourteen years as President of Xavier University School of Medicine. Xavier University School of Medicine (XUSOM) located in Oranjestad, Aruba was founded in 2004.

“Fourteen years ago this week, I became the President of Xavier University School of Medicine. I began my tenure with one goal – to cultivate quality and affordable medical education. It has been my great pleasure to work with the faculty and staff to prepare successful doctors to serve the world. A big ‘thank you’ to the Board of Trustees, who have supported our continued progress and played an important role in our achievements,” Bhooplapur said on the occasion.

Under the leadership of Bhooplapur, XUSOM has achieved significant and multiple milestones like unconditional accreditation by the A.C.C.M (recognized by the E.C.F.M.G. and N.C.F.M.E.A. under the U.S. Department of Education), approval from the New York State Education Department. XUSOM today is named in the Top 10 Caribbean Medical Schools.

“Our achievements include 84 percent residency match rate this year; over 95 percent first-time pass rate in U.S.M.L.E. Step 1 and U.S.M.L.E. Step 2 C.K., opening a new residential campus in Aruba, commenced building a new academic campus which is set to open in 2023; and being named among Top 10 Caribbean Medical School. We have provided opportunities to a countless number of students during my fourteen years, and we look forward to continuing to provide opportunities to students to fulfill their dreams of becoming a doctor,” Bhooplapur said.
