Bappi Lahiri (1952-2022)

Bappi Lahiri, India’s Disco King, passed away on February 15. Lahiri, 69, brought synthesized disco to India and was known for his prolific oeuvre spanning more than 40 years, his sartorial signature, and the cult status the world over. He was best known for championing disco music in India right from the Seventies and Eighties, claiming to have worked on more than 650 films. Lahiri had a striking fashion sense inspired by Elvis Presley.

 

 Rahul Bajaj (1938-2022)

‘I was born anti-establishment,’ said Rahul Bajaj, the industrialist whose firm manufactured the popular Bajaj scooters. Bajaj passed away at 83 on February 12 after a prolonged illness. He made the Bajaj brand a household name. Rahul Bajaj led one of India’s most prominent business groups’ for decades, and one thing remained unchanged – his candor.
