Rotary awarded $470,000 Covid-19 grant to set up ICUs in Kerala

New York: Under the leadership of Past District Governor Ravishankar Bhooplapur, Rotary Club of Gold Coast Lake Success partnered with Rotary District 3211 in India and Rotary Foundation “Jeevan Raksha” to provide ICU ventilators for Covid-19 treatment to Kerala. A total of 36 ICU Ventilators were handed over on July 13, 2021 in Thiruvananthapuram at a function inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri Pinarayi Vijayan, and presided over  by the Minister of Health of the state, Smt Veena George.

All equipments have been donated to government hospitals in Kerala. The cost of the equipments is  $470,000.

This grant was made possible by donations from Mr Ravi  & Jaya Bhooplapur and Rotarians from India with half the match coming from the Rotary Foundation.

As India is going through a very tough time to control Covid-19 and hospitals are filled with patients and not enough equipment to treat, Ravi took the lead of writing this emergency grant for Kerala. The Rotary Foundation has always shown its generosity and helped in the past also by giving matching funds. Past District Governor Ravi has done many similar donations and written grants in the past.
