SEF to host ‘Be the Light’ gala on Sept 24

New York: The Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF) is all set to host the “Be the Light” gala on September 24 at Cipriani in New York. The fundraising event is aimed at helping in eradicating curable blindness in India.

The event will help the SEF to meet its “Vision 2030” goal of providing one million free eye surgeries each year. More than 45 million people in India are visually impaired, with 12 million of them being blind.

Earlier in 2019, SEF was able to provide support for more than 215,000 free eye surgeries performed at SEF India and its partner hospitals. “If we are able to treat 80 percent of those who are visually impaired, that would be a significant accomplishment,” said Murali Krishnamurthy, Founder, and Executive Chairman of SEF, USA.

BV Jagadeesh, Managing Partner of KAAJ Ventures will be the keynote speaker at the event. The gala will include performances by AATMA Performing Arts dancing school and singing sensation Jeffrey Iqbal, the first American-born Bollywood singer.
