Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care sets up Covid-19 Health Centre in rural India

New York: As the entire world faces a raging pandemic, the second wave of Covid-19 has disrupted the lives of millions in India. An alarming fact is that the second wave has hit the rural regions of India more severely than ever, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic among vulnerable populations. While they already face acute deprivation of primary health care, basic infrastructure and trained professionals, getting access to high-quality ICU care and oxygen support seems like a far-fetched possibility in such regions.

Operating in the rural belt of South Gujarat, SRLC immediately rose to this critical occasion, with the guidance of their founder Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai, Initially, a wing of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital was converted to a make-shift COVID ward to provide necessary care on OPD basis.

Within the next 10 days, on 25th April, 2021, a fully-functional Covid-19 Health Centre was set up, equipped with 50 beds, ICU and BiPAP machinery, ventilators, high-flow oxygen support and an experienced team of doctors. Being one of the only equipped facilities amidst 100 villages, this center also has a high-quality imaging center with CT scan machinery to swiftly diagnose symptoms and pulmonary effects.

Within 3 days of launch, this center has been running at full capacity and has provided immediate relief to hundreds of patients absolutely free of cost. In view of the surge in cases, a ‘Covid-19 Suspect Ward’ has also been set up where patients with symptoms are examined and tested extensively. Scaling up its operations, Phase 2 of the project involves adding more beds making it a 100-bed facility.

With an existing 100-bed Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and an under-construction 250-bed multispecialty hospital, SRLC has been very prompt in making modern healthcare facilities accessible for the rural population.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the organization has extensively undertaken 360-degree Relief Initiatives across 50 cities in 5 continents, wherein they distributed ration kits and medical essentials such as masks, sanitizers, PPE kits and bio-suits, ventilators and quarantine beds for government hospitals.

With a global network of volunteers engaged in Covid-19 relief initiatives, in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, India, Singapore, UAE and Kenya, these initiatives have benefited 7.5 million lives worldwide.

As the world faces another wave of challenges, SRLC displays their relentless commitment to combat it with compassion.
