Sikh radical Amritpal’s wife stopped from flying to UK: Police

Chandigarh: Amritpal Singh’s wife, Kirandeep Kaur, was stopped by the Punjab Police at the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar from trying to fly to the UK. Kirandeep Kaur is a British citizen.

According to officials, a Look Out Circular had been issued against the wife of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh.

Immigration officials had stopped Kirandeep Kaur and, according to airport sources, she was not allowed to board Air India Flight No 117 from the Amritsar airport to Birmingham, which departed at 2.30 pm. Kaur had reported to the immigration counters at 12.20 pm where she was stopped for questioning by officials.

Officials said Kirandeep Kaur has been sent to her home in Jallupur Khera and asked not to leave without informing the police.

“We have prevented her from leaving the country. She was neither detained nor arrested. She was just stopped because she is needed for questioning related to the case,” said Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Satinder Singh.

According to sources, she had a visa for a limited period to stay in India and it was about to expire. She got married to Amritpal Singh in February this year and was going to England for the first time after that.

Khalistani sympathizer Amritpal Singh has been on the run since March 18.
