South Asian Golf Association hosts 19th annual outing

The 19th SAGA (South Asian Golf Association) Annual Golf Outing, Persistent SAGA Open 2023”, held on September 30th, 2023, at Cobblestone Creek Country Club was a testament to the resilience of golf enthusiasts and the unpredictable whims of weather. Rain threatened to be a spoiler for the day, but the spirits remained undampened as participants took on the challenging course.

The lush greenery of the course was a stark contrast to the overcast sky that loomed above. Despite the wet conditions underfoot, avid golfers teed off with enthusiasm, ready to navigate the challenges that the rain-soaked course presented. The damp fairways and tricky greens added an extra layer of complexity to the game, testing the skills of even the most seasoned players.

The evening brought a welcome reprieve from the wet course, as participants with their guests gathered for a delightful dinner, awards ceremony, and dancing to the beats of a DJ. The sense of community that defines the SAGA Golf Outing was on full display as stories of the day’s triumphs and challenges were shared over delicious food.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the SAGA Junior scholarship awards sponsored by Dr. Anil and Mrs. Anju Joshi. SAGA has a proud tradition of supporting education, and this year was no exception. Five thousand dollars in total scholarship was disbursed to Araash Ahuja, Ananya Kumar, Jia Kataria, and Tanika Mally who started their college journey in 2023. They were recognized not only for their golf and academic achievements but also for their commitment to the community.
