India has also ended its ICC ODI trophy drought.
New Zealand scored 251 for 7 wickets in the final with India chasing down the target in 49 overs.
India has now won seven men's ICC tournaments. Rohit Sharma became the second Indian captain to win multiple ICC trophies. He became a top ODI run scorer at Dubai International Stadium and he is also second Indian captain to score 50+ runs in Champions Trophy final after Saurav Ganguly.
Virat Kohli was dismissed for one, his lowest score in ICC tournament final.
Moments after India's sensational victory against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team, calling the win an "exceptional result."
Taking to X, PM Modi wrote: "An exceptional game and an exceptional result! Proud of our cricket team for bringing home the ICC Champions Trophy. They’ve played wonderfully through the tournament. Congratulations to our team for the splendid all around display."
