Kathmandu: India's close neighbors Nepal and Sri Lanka have strongly condemned the shocking terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region and extended condolences.
Strongly denouncing the attack, the Government of Sri Lanka stated, “We strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”
The statement further emphasized Sri Lanka’s commitment to regional peace, saying, “Sri Lanka stands in firm solidarity with the Indian government and people of India in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
Calling the incident "barbaric", Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on X: "Nepal unequivocally condemns the barbaric terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and express our sincere wishes for the swift and full recovery of those injured."
"Nepal stands in steadfast solidarity with the Government and people of India in this time of sorrow. In line with our firm and principled position, Nepal condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and believes that such heinous acts of terrorism cannot and should not be justified on any ground," the post added.
A Nepalese national, Sudeep Neupane from Batwali Ropandi, was also among those killed in the attack. Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said he condemned all acts of terrorism and affirmed support for India. "Deepest condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Nepal stands firmly with India & strongly condemns any & all acts of terrorism. Close coordination is established to verify reports of a Nepali national among the victims & will provide all necessary assistance."
