Shanti Foundation, a nonprofit trust focussed on upliftment of women, children and destitute has embarked on a mission to distribute 2000 bags of food supplies in India. The Foundation is supported by Long Island based Surendra Rametra.
The local volunteers in India will procure the food items and reach out to needy people especially in the Covid-19 affected red zones of cities such as Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi and states of Punjab and Rajasthan. The Foundation will be reimbursing the cost and the food items will be handed over to people who may not have Aadhar card, ration card and to those whom the government food supply didn’t reach.
For the protection of volunteers and to maintain orderly distribution in each location, the local authorities permission and police help is being sought.
