Tamil Appreciation Day celebrated at Consulate General of New York

Indian Consulate General of New York Randhir Jaiswal hosted Tamil Diaspora on December 4 as part of Tamil Appreciation Day events. The event was conducted by Ranganathan Purushothaman, Advisor NYTS.

The evening started with Prayer to Mother Tamil followed by Consul General Randhir Jaiswal addressing Tamil Diaspora. NYTS President Rammohan welcomed all the attendees. The cultural program at the two-hour-long program included Parai music – Traditional Drums of Tamil Nadu, Vocal with Tamil verses. Bharatha Natyam performance with the rendering of Sangam Literature was a visual treat that left the audience enthralled.

Chief Guests Dr. Kannabiran Ravishankar and Dr. Vijay Janakiraman shared amazing trivia about the Origins of the Tamil language and its beauty. The presentation was greatly appreciated by the audience of around 100 people at the event.

Dr. M.N.Krishnan-Advisor NYTS introduced speakers at the event while Treasurer Chinnadurai rendered the Vote of Thanks in the end. Consul Vipul, Kanchana Poola – Advisor NYTS, Albert Chelladurai – Advisor NYTS, Dr. Chitoor Govindaraj attended the event among other dignitaries.
