Tamil Nadu BJP minority wing leader hacked to death in Chennai

A BJP’s minority wing leader in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai was hacked to death by three miscreants on Tuesday, May 24. Balachandar (30) was murdered by an unknown gang in Chintadripet.

Balachandar was BJP’s SC/ST Central Chennai chief. Since he was receiving death threats, he was provided with a Personal Security Officer (PSO) for security.

Balachandar was in Saminayakan street speaking to a few men and his PSO had gone to have tea. At that exact moment, three men surrounded him and brutally hacked him to death.

The gang then got onto two-wheelers and escaped from the spot before Balakrishnan, who was Balachandar’s PSO could return.

The death of another BJP functionary has raised critical questions about the law and order situation in the city. On May 18, two spine-chilling murders occurred in the capital and both were caught on CCTV.

Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami also criticised the law and order situation, claiming that Chennai had turned into the ‘murder city’, as 18 murders have occurred within the past 20 days.
