TANA celebrates Bathukamma festival at iconic Times Square

Times Square was on October 8, 2022 witness to a never-seen-before scale of Bathukamma festivities. Hosted by the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), it was a celebration to remember.

A 20-ft golden Bathukamma was the center of attraction, with its larger-than-life aura wowing the onlookers.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams graced the occasion and handed over a proclamation to the organizers as a sweet gesture. He gave his remarks and encouragement to do such events in future.

Dilip Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner for New York City also attended the event. TANA President thanked Mayor Adams and Deputy Commissioner Chauhan for their continuous support to TANA.

Film Pushpa fame actress Ansuya Bhargava as well as Singer Mangli also graced the event.

Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu, the President of the TANA, stated that the credit goes to TANA’s former President Jay Talluri and Sirisha Tunuguntla (TANA cultural services coordinator) who played a key role in hosting the event successfully.

Talluri and team drew applause for the way they pulled off the stunning event at Times Square, where it’s not easy to get permission to hold a public event. TANA’s local leadership from New York and New Jersey supported and participated.

American citizens also participated in the cultural fest with enthusiasm and danced to the Bathukamma folk music.
