The Immersive Van Gogh exhibit coming to NYC

The highly-anticipated “Immersive Van Gogh” exhibit that digitally places visitors inside Vincent van Gogh’s paintings is finally coming to NYC.

Visitors will be swathed in color, light, and music as part of the show beginning June 10.

“It’s a concept where the public walks through the space and the art happens in 360 degrees around them. It’s projected on every surface in the building,” producer Corey Ross said.

The New York location at Pier 36 on the Lower East Side is 70 thousand square feet. To help reimagine this massive venue, the show has joined forces with Emmy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated designer David Korins, known for his set design of Broadway hits including Hamilton.

Animations of van Gogh’s work— The Starry Night, Sunflowers, The Bedroom and more—will be projected on the walls and floor of the exhibit.

The 35-minute show opened first in Paris and traveled to Toronto and Chicago. Time Out Chicago’s Zach Long wrote: “The show is packed with eye-catching moments, including sequences that imbue well-known van Gogh artworks like Starry Night and Wheatfield with Crows with twinkling stars appearing out of inky darkness and brushstroke birds soaring across a canvas…if you’re eager for a peek at what could be the future of experiential art, ‘Immersive Van Gogh’ is a visual spectacle that balances eye-popping photo-ops with a survey of the artist’s work that’s more comprehensive than any single physical exhibit could possibly manage.”

Of course, with any art show happening in NYC right now, there will be health and safety precautions, including requires masking, social distancing and temperature checks,

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience from renowned European edutainment company Exhibition Hub utilizes a unique combination of several dozen projectors, 15,000 sq ft screens, plus a separate high-tech VR adventure, to create a mind-bending 360° digital art experience.

Plus, their cutting-edge videomapping process is only used by a few companies around the world! Instead of standing and staring at one of the iconic artist’s beautiful framed paintings from afar, imagine being able to walk inside one — the vibrant colors swirling around you while you take in the stunning, post-impressionist works in an otherworldly way.

A new block of tickets are on sale for the NYC show and range in price from $29.99 for kids to $99.99 for VIP Flex. Basic timed tickets are $49.99.
