Jaipur: The United States Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) here and inspected the manufacturing process of the world-famous artificial limb, the Jaipur Foot.
The founder and the Chief Patron of the BMVSS showed the manufacturing process to the visiting ambassador and said that the artificial limb because of its high performance and quality has so far benefitted 2.2 million persons in India and abroad. D R Mehta said that the Jaipur foot has its presence in 42 countries and is being provided free to handicapped persons.
Ambassador Garcetti said he was happy to know that the Jaipur Foot is a high-quality and low-cost prosthetic and helps thousands of people every year to walk with dignity. He said he was doubly delighted that it is offered to the amputee free of cost which shows the devotion and concern for the amputees. He was also happy to know that through its various centers in the country, the BMVSS provides Jaipur Foot and other aids and appliances to over 35,000 persons every year.
The Ambassador was received by the executive president SS Bhandari, Secretary (Technical) Dr Deependra Mehta, Chief Techincal Consultant D R M K Mehta, and Consultant Dr Pooja Mukul.
