Veteran actress Deepti Naval launches her book in Long Island

Westbury, NY: Renowned Bollywood actress and author Deepti Naval launched her book, “A Country called childhood – A Memoir,” with a reading session past weekend at the Maguire Theatre at SUNY Old Westbury.

The actress was welcomed by Indian American Forum Chairperson Indu Jaiswal along with Aligarh Medical Alumni Association (AMAANA) Vice President Dr. Tazeen Beg at the session emceed by Flora Parekh.

The event was attended by Smiti Khanna, Naval’s sister and her family, and Bollywood actor Prashantt Guptha. Many of the community leaders including Mohinder Taneja, Gobind Munjal of AIA, Dr. Urmilesh Arya – IAF Trustee, and Tarun Wasil attended the book launch and reading session followed by a book signing ceremony.

Naval, in the book, revisits her childhood and adolescent years in Amritsar in the late 1960s, her decision to study psychology as an undergraduate in the US, her inner life as an actor, her journey with depression, and the intersection between her artistic explorations and her mental health.
