Vidya Balan returns to big screen after gap of 4 years

Four years after her last theatrical release ‘Mission Mangal’, actor Vidya Balan is set to be back on the big screen with her latest feature, ‘Neeyat’. The murder-mystery will see the reunion of the ‘Shakuntala Devi’ team, with director Anu Menon helming the film, which has been produced by Prime Video and Vikram Malhotra-led Abundantia Entertainment.

Billed as a whodunnit, ‘Neeyat’ narrates a “gripping suspense story of an unlikely detective, played by Balan, who investigates mysterious murders at a billionaire’s party where nothing is what it seems and all suspects hide a secret or two,” a note from the makers read.

The film will release theatrically on July 7. ‘Neeyat’ has been written by Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala and Girvani Dhyani with dialogues by Kausar Munir. The film will be Vidya Balan’s return to theatres post pandemic, after her successful stint on digital with three acclaimed films that premiered on Prime Video– Shakuntala Devi, Sherni and Jalsa.
