Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ dominates New York’s Times Square on Republic Day

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘The Kashmir Files’ advertisement was featured at the Times Square billboard in the Big Apple on the occasion of India’s 73rd Republic Day.

Sharing the news with his followers Agnihotri tweeted a video capturing the film’s digital poster at the Times Square billboard and wrote,

“HISTORIC. #TheKashmirFiles at Times Square, Manhattan. A matter of honor and pride as for the first time any film has been advertised at the world’s most expensive site by the fans and supporters led by @kp_global.”

Agnihotri explained in a statement that the film was initially supposed to release on January 26 but its release was pushed owing to the Omicron scare in the country.

The director further said in the statement, “But the fans and supporters of this film decided that they must advertise it at Times Square – the world’s most expensive and prestigious advertising site and they raised their own funds and did it, led by Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora.”

“It’s a matter of honor and pride for India and every single Indian because the issue of Kashmir genocide is now being mainstreamed just by the fans and supporters,” he concluded.

Sharing this news on social media, Anupam Kher took to Twitter and shared the video of the historic moment. The tweet read, “Gorgeous poster of our film #TheKashmirFiles in New York #TimesSquare. Proud! The story of #Kashmiri Pandit Exodus reached the world platform. Thanks to those who made this effort a success! Something is changing in 32 years. Even more, will change! Be victorious! @vivekagnihotri @kp_global.”

Both Agnihotri and his actor wife Pallavi Joshi were stationed in the US for over a month-long schedule for the special screenings of ‘The Kashmir Files’ across 16 different cities. They held Townhall meetings at Harvard University and Capitol Hill among others.

‘The Kashmir Files’ is a true story based on video interviews of the first generation victims of the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
