Yoga Mudra: Reduces Hair Fall, Relieves Constipation

Constipation is said to be the mother of all diseases as per yogic philosophy and Ayurveda. Constipation means irregularity and difficult passage of dry feces. It is also a signal that all is not well within. Due to constipation, we are not been able to eliminate the waste from the body efficiently resulting in inviting hosts of diseases.

There are many yoga poses that help relieve constipation and one of them is Yog Mudra. It is a voluntary neuromuscular action or posture through which Prana – the vital force is directed through a psychic channel known as Mudra. According to the Gheranda Samhita mudras bring equilibrium and stability.

Technique

  • Sit in Vajrasana with both the heels supporting the bottom and soles facing upward
  • Keep both hands on the knees
  • Keep the gaze in front
  • Exhaling bending down bringing the head down to the ground
  • Keep head on the ground, and keep the breathing out and inhale when coming back to the sitting position

  • Improves digestion and relieves constipation
  • Makes the body radiant
  • Sooth tendency of aggressive behavior
  • Improves concentration
  • Cures respiratory ailments and sluggish liver
  • Increases peristalsis of intestines
  • Increases basic metabolic rate significantly
  • Improves pulmonary circulation

Note of Caution

  • Those with retinal detachment should avoid this pose
  • Those with high blood pressure and cervical spondylosis should also avoid this pose
