It has been an annual tradition for actress Shabana Azami and lyricist Javed Akhtar to host Holi festivities at their home, Janki Kutir. It is a tradition that was started by Shabana Azmi’s father Kaifi Azmi, and which has been taken forward by Javed and Shabana along with Tanvi and Baba Azmi.
Dressed in white with a multi-hued safa tied on her head, Shabana set the mood for the party when she entered the venue doing a little dance. Later, the couple posed for the paparazzi.

The early guests included the Javed’s filmmaker-actor son Farhan Akhtar and his wife Shibani Dandekar; Dia Mirza, the actress who’s now better known for her espousal of green causes; and Jyothika Saravanan, the multi-award-winning Tamil actress and producer.
Shabana during her conversation with Times Now, shared that just like every year, this year also the festivities will carry on, with just one change, and that is, Satish Kaushik. The veteran actor passed away last year soon after attending the bash thrown by the couple.
Reminiscing about her old friend, she said that Satish was full of life, always entertaining and funny. She also stated that Holi won’t be the same for her now.
Ironically at last year’s bash, Shabana Azmi wasn’t present, she was shooting in Budapest for the second season of Steven Spielberg’s show ‘Halo’ and Javed Akhtar took charge of Holi on his own. But she did manage to celebrate the festival with her co-stars Pablo Schreiber, David Weiner and Marisha Mukherjee.
Shabana was last seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ where she was paired opposite veteran actor Dharmendra and their chemistry had become the talk of the town.
At their bash, actors Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha arrived in white to celebrate the festival. Richa will be seen next in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.
