Nawaz ‘cleared of all charges’ while Imran punished in ‘fabricated cases’: PTI

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is not maintaining “backdoor talks” with anyone, said its chairman Barrister Gohar Khan amid reports that jailed ex-PM Imran Khan had green-lit negotiations with the establishment and political forces.

This week, addressing a press conference after meeting Khan at Adiala jail, Gohar said that the ex-premier only sought names for holding negotiations. No discussions were being held right now, he added. He alleged that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif is “cleared of all charges” while Khan is being punished in “fabricated cases”.

The cops are being used against the party, Gohar quoted the PTI founder as saying during their meeting. PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, who was with Gohar during the conference, said the PTI founder criticized Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s appointment as deputy PM and termed him Nawaz’s “frontman”.

Addressing reports of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders rejoining the party, the leader said that only Imran would take the final decision. Earlier reports said Khan had given PTI the green light for negotiations with the establishment and political adversaries. However, the ex-PM made it clear that any discussions must be played by the rulebook.
