‘I think BJP will get …’: Rahul Gandhi’s prediction for Lok Sabha polls

New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi said that BJP will win just 150 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections while Congress and other opposition parties will see a bump in their numbers. Gandhi made these remarks while addressing a joint press conference along with INDIA bloc ally and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad.

Asked about the prospects for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Congress leader said: “I do not do prediction of seats. 15-20 days ago I was thinking BJP would win around 180 seats but now I think they will get 150 seats. We are getting reports from every state that we are improving. We have a very strong alliance in Uttar Pradesh and we will perform very well.”

PM Modi has set a target of 370 seats for BJP and 400+ seats for NDA in the coming Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP had won 303 seats – its best-ever tally – while the Congress secured just 52 seats.

Speaking at the briefing, Rahul said the 2024 general election is an election of ideology and again accused BJP and RSS of trying to destroy the Constitution. “On the one hand, RSS and BJP are trying to destroy the Constitution and the democratic system, and on the other hand, the INDIA alliance and Congress Party are trying to defend and protect the Constitution and democracy.”
