By Purnima Voria

On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day I congratulate our Nation and its leaders especially Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. This year’s theme of Independence Day is “Nation First, Always First”.

It is a historic year for India as she holds the G-20 presidency, which provides an opportunity for it to influence global discourse and promote cooperation around several of the pressing issues of our times like climate change, terrorism and economic inequality.

I will be attending the Ge20 Forum, B-20 Forum that will focus on discussions around a variety of tracks such as foreign policy, financial inclusion, climate change, gender, healthcare, and others. The speakers will be drawn from various fields and will include government officials and policymakers, businesspersons and entrepreneurs, sportspersons, artists and activists.

The theme of Independence Day this year is “Nation First, Always First”, we the NRI community worldwide is interested in understanding the multifaceted issues surrounding the present and future of the Indian diaspora, a community that is growing in influence and stature worldwide, and their consequent influence on India’s growth and development.

As I head to India to attend the historic G-20, I wish Happy India’s 77th Independence Day and request all to do their part in making our nation “India First!”

“Lets celebrate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

Jai Hind! Vande Mataram.
