Biden nominates Judge Bulsara for Eastern District of New York District Judgeship

New York: President Biden February 7 nominated Judge Sanket Jayshukh Bulsara for a district judgeship for the Eastern District of New York court.

Earlier, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer had announced that he had recommended Judge Bulsara to serve as a district judge on the prestigious United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

“Judge Bulsara has a broad range of experiences, from clerking for Hon. John G. Koeltl in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, serving as Acting General Counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission and developing a broad-based, trial-centered practice, to his current service as a Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District. This vast range of invaluable experiences will serve him well as a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York,” said Schumer.

Judge Bulsara has served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of New York since 2017. Prior to his judgeship, Bulsara was Acting General Counsel of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He was the Deputy General Counsel for Appellate Litigation, Adjudication, and Enforcement at the SEC from 2015 – 2017.

Bulsara was born in the Bronx to immigrant parents before moving to New Rochelle and later Edgemont, New York. Bulsara’s parents immigrated over 50 years ago, his father worked for the City of New York as an engineer and his mother was a dedicated nurse. Bulsara lives in Long Island City with his wife, Christine DeLorenzo.
