India, US share ‘great military-to-military relations’: Pentagon

New Delhi: The United States has a great military-to-military relationship with India, along with good communications, the Pentagon said. At a press briefing, Pentagon’s Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said, “We have a great military-to-military relationship with India, good communications.”

“We’re going to continue to monitor what’s happening in the region, but I don’t have more to share on any updates,” she said. Singh also spoke about whether her country was expecting a high-level visit from India.

“I don’t have any visits to read out from officials from the Indian government. At least here at the department. I can’t speak for other officials across the interagency,” she said, adding that Pentagon was monitoring the situation in India’s neighboring Pakistan closely, in the wake of general elections.

The statement by the Pentagon comes as Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande left for the US on a four-day visit on February 12 aimed at exploring ways to further expand bilateral military engagement. The Army described Gen Pande’s visit from February 13 to 16 as “significant” and said it underscores deepening military cooperation between the two countries.
