Queens, NY: U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, issued the following statement on the devasting fire in Bangladesh.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims who were killed and all who were injured during this disastrous fire that erupted in a six-story building in Bangladesh’s capital city.
As many are still being treated for severe injuries, my heart is with all who have lost loved ones. New York’s Bangladeshi American community – including Bangladeshi Americans here in Queens – has always been a source of support and comfort when tragedies like this impact their families, friends and neighbors back in Bangladesh, and I know they will continue to do the same as Dhaka mourns and recovers.”
