After teaming with producer-screenwriter Mindy Kaling on the smash-hit series 'Never Have I Ever', streaming giant Netflix unveiled first-look images from their upcoming comedy, 'Running Point', which is set to release in 2025.

The 10-episode series features actor Kate Hudson as a Basketball Team president and also stars Brenda Song, Chet Hanks, Drew Tarver, Fabrizio Guido, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Max Greenfield, Scott MacArthur, Toby Sandeman, Roberto Sanchez, Uche Agada, and Dane DiLiegro.

Sharing Hudson's look in the film, Netflix wrote on X: "Here is your first look at Kate Hudson in Running Point, a new comedy series from Mindy Kaling set in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports".

The official logline of the series reads, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”

According to Netflix, the series is about a woman named Isla Gordon (Hudson) who is unexpectedly appointed head of the family business — a basketball franchise.

The project, filmed in Los Angeles, got underway in late February 2024 with its scheduled wrap set for this month. James Ponsoldt has directed the first two episodes of the series executive produced by Hudson.

Kaling is also the co-writer of 'Running Point' and will be working with frequent collaborators Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen. Stassen is also the showrunner of the series.
