‘RRR’ filmmaker receives 1000 origami figures from elderly Japanese woman

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s period action film ‘RRR’, which won an Oscar in 2023, is still receiving love from all over the world, especially in Japan. Rajamouli, whose film became highest-grossing Indian movie in Japan, received a special gift from an 83-year-old Japanese woman upon his latest visit. He shared that the fan gifted him over 1000 origami cranes to wish good health upon the director.

Rajamouli posted pictures with the fan and wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “In Japan, they make origami cranes & gift them to their loved ones for good luck & health. This 83-year-old woman made 1000 of them to bless us because ‘RRR’ made her happy. She just sent the gift and was waiting outside in the cold. Some gestures can never be repaid. Just grateful.”

Fans were moved by the fan’s gesture and wrote “blessed” in the comment section. A fan wrote, “The love you are receiving in Japan. Jakkanna you are truly blessed,” another fan commented, “That’s a very good gesture!!”. A comment also read, “@ssrajamouli It felt great to see this amazing dream at the age of 83, sir. You’re a legend, sir. We’re waiting for your Baahubali 3, please give some updates.”

‘RRR’, which won the Oscar in the Best Original Song category, broke several box office records in Japan. It remains one of the top-grossing Indian movies in history, with global earnings exceeding Rs 1200 crore.

SS Rajamouli has now moved on to his next film with Mahesh Babu. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and nothing has been revealed so far, aside from its genre – action-adventure. As for Ram Charan, he will next be seen in Shankar’s ‘Gamechanger’, whereas NTR Jr has ‘Devara’ – Part One scheduled for release this year.
