Toronto: The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) hosted an exclusive Post Trade Mission Review on March 11, highlighting the outcomes and strategic impact of the 2026 Canada–India Trade Mission.
The review, held at the headquarters of State Bank of India Canada, 220 Bay Street, Toronto, brought together government representatives, diplomatic officials, industry leaders, media, and members of the trade delegation to share insights from the mission and discuss opportunities for strengthening Canada–India collaboration in trade, academia, institutional partnerships, and industry.
The mission engaged with key stakeholders across Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh (Punjab & Haryana), Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh, facilitating meetings with government leaders, chambers of commerce, academic institutions, and industry partners. It aimed to deepen economic cooperation and expand bilateral partnerships between Canada and India.
CHCC leadership highlights mission vision and outcomes
The event opened with remarks from Kushagr Dutt Sharma, President of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce, who emphasized the growing importance of structured economic engagement between Canada and India.
“This mission demonstrates the strong potential for deeper collaboration between Canadian and Indian businesses,” said Sharma. “By connecting entrepreneurs, institutions, and policymakers across both countries, we are building long-term partnerships that will create opportunities for trade, innovation, and investment.”
Following the opening remarks, Dr Rakesh Kantaria, Chair of the 2026 Trade Mission, presented an overview of the mission’s vision and highlighted key engagements and outcomes from meetings held across multiple Indian states.
Emerging trade opportunities and strategic initiatives
Amit Chowdhury, Trade Mission Co-Chair, spoke about emerging opportunities for Canadian businesses to engage with India’s rapidly expanding economy, particularly in sectors such as technology, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and education partnerships.
During the briefing, Naresh Chavda presented new initiatives designed to strengthen long-term Canada–India economic collaboration and support structured engagement between Canadian and Indian businesses, institutions, and industry partners.
These initiatives aim to create sustainable platforms for trade, investment, and cross-border partnerships in the years ahead.
Diplomatic and financial perspectives
The briefing also featured special remarks from Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh, Consul General of India in Toronto, who highlighted the importance of strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Canada and India and emphasized the role of business organizations such as CHCC in fostering bilateral engagement.
As host of the event, Manish Mishra, President of State Bank of India Canada, welcomed the delegation and shared insights on the role financial institutions play in supporting cross-border trade, investment, and financial collaboration between Canada and India.
The session concluded with a media interaction segment followed by a networking lunch, providing an opportunity for attendees to continue discussions and explore new collaborations emerging from the mission.
