Berlin: Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh interacted with the Indian diaspora as he attended a community event this week at the Indian Embassy here during his three-day visit to Germany.
In a post on X, Singh called the Indian diaspora in Germany the "Living Bridge" between India and Germany. He also underlined India's rapid economic growth and technological progress, including areas like infrastructure, startups, space, and digital innovation.
"Delighted to interact with the members of the Indian community in Berlin. The Indian diaspora is the Living Bridge between India and Germany, and it has evolved into a strong force in recent years. During my interaction, I underlined India's rapid economic growth and technological progress, including areas like infrastructure, startups, space, and digital innovation," Singh said.
The Defense Minister asserted that India, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is witnessing an unprecedented transformation in the defense sector, and increased partnerships with the German industry can yield significant mutual gains.
Singh is currently on a three-day visit (April 21-23) to Germany. Upon his arrival from Munich to Berlin, the Defense Minister was welcomed at the Berlin Airport with military honors.
The Indian community in Germany has seen substantial growth over the past few decades. As of 2023, there are approximately 200,000 people of Indian origin living in Germany, which includes around 150,000 Indian nationals and about 50,000 German citizens of Indian descent.
