Srinagar: Two more constituents of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) have walked out of the separatist amalgam, asserting it has failed to live up to the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement and the Democratic Political Movement have announced severing all ties with separatism.

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement chairperson Shahid Saleem said in a notice: "My organization and I do not have any inclination or sympathy for the ideology of APHC, which has not been able to address the legitimate aspirations and grievances of people of Jammu and Kashmir".

Terming the development a “big victory" for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah said the PM's policies have “tossed separatism out of Jammu and Kashmir". "It is a big victory for PM Modi's vision for building a developed, unified, and peaceful Bharat," he said.

Hurriyat Conference is a coalition of various separatist outfits in Kashmir. The group has been accused by the Indian government of supporting separatism and militancy, leading to a crackdown on its leaders and finances in recent years.
