New Delhi: With Delhi assembly elections over, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set its eyes on the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. At present, the National Democratic Alliance (BJP-JDU) government is in power in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.

Presently, the party is conducting assembly-wise surveys to gauge the ground situation and estimate the kind of efforts the party needs to put in to repeat its success in the elections.

As per an India Today report, the BJP has reaffirmed that Nitish Kumar will lead the NDA in the upcoming elections, brushing aside any speculations around the ruling alliance's chief ministerial face.

Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor claimed that Nitish Kumar will contest the Bihar polls with the BJP but may switch sides later, though his declining popularity will prevent him from securing another term as Chief Minister. Kishor also claimed that the BJP was wary of declaring Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate of the NDA because of his declining popularity.

The allocation of seats among NDA allies will be determined based on the survey results, sources said, adding that discussions on seat-sharing will take place once the survey findings are available, ensuring that the strongest candidate from each constituency is given the opportunity to contest.
