New Delhi: No world leader asked India to stop military strikes against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, from May 7 to 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Lok Sabha this week. He added that the operation was still giving "sleepless nights" to the masterminds of the Pahalgam attack.

"Pakistani airbase hit by India in the retaliatory strikes in May are still in ICU," said Modi. India destroyed Pakistan's military strength between May 9 and May 10. Pakistan now clearly understands that India's response will always get bigger and that India can do anything if it engages in any misadventure in the future, he said.

The Prime Minister lauded India's military action as a Vijayotsav (victory celebration) and told the House, amid cheers from the treasury benches, that he was presenting the stand of Bharat. Operation Sindoor will continue. It is a notice to Pakistan that India will always act till Pakistan stops attacks, Modi asserted during his marathon reply to the discussion in the Lok Sabha.

His assertions on “no third nation interference” in bringing a pause in India-Pakistan face-off also led to loud cheers and desk-thumping from the treasury benches.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha earlier, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi threw a direct challenge, daring the Prime Minister to deny US President Donald Trump’s persuasion in reaching a ceasefire with Pakistan on May 10.

PM Modi mocked the Opposition's repeated claims of foreign intervention and reiterated that the operation was stopped after it achieved its objective, and also after the Pakistani DGMO pleaded before the Indian counterpart.

“Pakistan Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called up the Indian DGMO and requested it to stop. He said that ‘bahut mara ab jyada maar jhelne ki takat nahi hai, please hamla rok do’ (You have hit us really hard, can’t take it anymore, please stop this attack)," PM Modi said, while reiterating that the Indian strikes were precise and non-escalatory.

He said that Operation Sindoor achieved its objective by dismantling terror bases and their headquarters inside Pakistan and added that when the Pakistan military stepped in to support terrorists, the Indian armed forces mounted their offensive and taught the enemy nation a lesson that it will remember for years to come.

No third-party intervention in ceasefire: EAM

During a Rajya Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar categorically stated that no foreign leader had a role in halting the cross-border military flare-up as he underlined India's unwavering policy against third-party mediation in its dealings with Pakistan.

Reiterating that any dialogue must be strictly bilateral, the EAM said that no phone conversations occurred between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump between April 22 and June 16.
