New Delhi: Former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal took a dig at his opponents while addressing the Delhi Legislative Assembly for the first time since his resignation.
"My colleagues in the opposition must be sad to see Manish Sisodia and me here," Kejriwal said. "I always say Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi is very powerful and has a lot of resources, but Modi is not God. The God who is there is with us. I want to thank the Supreme Court."
Asserting that even Ravana's arrogance in Ramayana could not be sustained, Kejriwal said the people of Delhi would give a befitting reply to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the next assembly election in Delhi.
His resignation followed more than a year of mounting pressure on the AAP over allegations of corruption in a liquor distribution scheme. Multiple AAP leaders, including former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, were kept without trial for months in connection with the case.
Earlier, Kejriwal wrote a letter to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, posing questions related to the BJP and its leadership. The AAP chief expressed his dismay over the direction the BJP-led government is taking the country, emphasizing that it could have serious repercussions for India's democracy.
