New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Japan from August 29 to 30 to participate in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit.  This will be his eighth visit to Japan, and the first Summit with his counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba.

The External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that during the visit, the two Prime Ministers will review the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan, including defense and security, trade and economy, technology and innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.

They will also discuss issues of regional and global importance. The visit will reaffirm the longstanding special bond of friendship between the two countries.

Responding to PM Modi’s two-day visit, India’s Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, said, “India and Japan have an excellent relationship. We have an excellent political relationship, business relationship, and of course, people-to-people connect."

“This year we are celebrating the India-Japan Year of Science, Technology, and Innovation Exchanges. A review of the progress we have made and to come up with a roadmap to take the relationship further to the next higher level in the coming 10 years. So this visit, this annual summit is a great occasion to review that relationship and also take it to a new, higher level of partnership," he added.
