‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ aims to explore how AI can be used for the benefit of all, says Prime Minister

New Delhi: As the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ commenced here this week, marking the first time that a global convening of this scale on artificial intelligence is being organized in the Global South, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said AI represents a transformative opportunity in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047. 

“Leveraging AI mindfully, with a strategic lens, helps address deep developmental challenges while creating entirely new economic opportunities, enabling inclusive growth, bridging the urban-rural divide, and expanding access to opportunity,” he mentioned.

“Intelligence, rationality, and decision-making make science and technology useful to the public. The India AI Impact Summit also aims to explore how AI can be used for the benefit of all,” he added.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 brought together the heads of state and government, ministers, global technology leaders, eminent researchers, multilateral institutions and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the role of AI in advancing inclusive growth, strengthening public systems and enabling sustainable development, while marking the first time that a global convening of this scale on the issue is being organised in the Global South.

The five-day summit saw the participation of over 100 government representatives, including more than 20 heads of state, 60 Ministers and Vice Ministers, along with over 500 global AI leaders comprising CEOs, founders, academicians, researchers, CTOs and philanthropic organisations.

A major highlight of the summit, the three flagship Global Impact Challenges -- AI for ALL, AI by HER, and YUVAi -- will culminate in the announcement of their finalists and the Grand Finale showcase. 

PM Modi also shared highlights of the ‘India AI Impact Expo 2026’ and said that it was a powerful convergence of ideas, innovation and intent.

"It showcased the extraordinary potential of Indian talent in shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence for global good. Above all, it reaffirmed our commitment to harnessing Artificial Intelligence responsibly, inclusively and at scale for human progress," PM Modi said.

India's progress in Artificial Intelligence (AI) will not only shape transformative solutions for the nation but also contribute to global advancement. PM Modi said that being among innovators, researchers and tech enthusiasts gives a glimpse of the extraordinary potential of AI, Indian talent and innovation.

"Together, we will shape solutions not just for India but for the world," the Prime Minister had added.

‘AI summit unique opportunity for India’s youth’

New Delhi: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the five-day AI Impact Summit presents a distinctive opportunity for India's technologically adept youth to develop solutions for worldwide challenges. He also expressed pride in hosting the largest gathering of technology leaders related to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology said the AI Summit offers a huge investment opportunity, and India is likely to draw investments of more than $ 200 billion over the next two years.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "democratising" the technology with his vision, stating that the focus of the five-day AI Impact Summit is to tackle the diverse challenges faced by India's large population and to seek comprehensive solutions.

Vaishnaw said that global leaders, tech gurus from within and across the globe, have congregated at the AI summit, and together they will deliberate, discuss and develop tech-based solutions for the host of problems plaguing the world today. He said that India’s youth have a ‘unique and golden’ opportunity to contribute to shaping the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by making innovative solutions in the field of deep-tech and shaping the digital world worldwide.
