New Delhi: Addressing the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out India’s vision for a human-centric artificial intelligence ecosystem, calling for the democratization of the rapidly evolving technology. He warned against allowing humans to become “mere data points” in the AI age and called for transforming AI into a tool of inclusion.
The Prime Minister unveiled the ‘MANAV’ framework for AI governance centred on ethics, accountability, national data sovereignty, accessibility and legal validity, and urged global leaders to ensure that the development of artificial intelligence remains inclusive, responsible and firmly under human control.

"We must democratize AI. It must become a tool for inclusion and empowerment, particularly for the Global South," the Prime Minister told a packed audience of global leaders and technology giants.
The Prime Minister stressed that the approach to artificial intelligence should focus on “how to make AI human-centric rather than AI-centric” as he presented the ‘MANAV’ framework.
"This MANAV vision of India will become an important link for the welfare of humanity in the AI-based world of the 21st century," the Prime Minister asserted.
The Prime Minister noted that the participation of over 100 countries in the summit, along with leading figures from the global AI ecosystem, was a matter of pride not only for India but also for the Global South.
