On September 14, 2025, the Gujarati Samaj of New York (GSNY) hosted the 34th Health and Wellness Awareness Expo at Fresh Meadows. More than 150 members took advantage of the health fair.
Dr Rajiv Jauhar's interactive health education on ‘Heart Diseases in the South Asian Community’ and Dr Tarun Wasil's ‘Lifestyle and Cancer: The Critical Connection’ provided key information to the audience.
Workshop on Living with Diabetes: Speakers Dr Nita Shah, Dr Vinay Kapoor, Dr Rahul Patel, and Rita Batheja (RDN) provided critical information on this silent killer disease.
NYC mayor Eric Adams visited the health expo and emphasized the importance of prevention over treatment, aligning with the GSNY health committee’s mission—prevention is better than cure.Dilip Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Innovation in the NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, Dr. Raj Bhayani, a prominent leader in the community, has also attended the health fair.
