Healthfirst brings health resources and community support to Brooklyn Eid ul-Adha celebration

The Eid ul-Adha festivities brought together local organizations, health education, and support services for Brooklyn residents

Healthfirst, a leading not-for-profit health insurer, held its 2nd Annual Eid ul-Adha Celebration, with support from the Council of People’s Organization (COPO), in Midwood on Saturday, June 6th, delivering on-site health education and in-language resources to members of the Brooklyn community.

Healthfirst is committed to engaging members through culturally relevant programs that improve access to health knowledge and quality care. Events like the Eid ul-Adha celebration help bridge communities to trusted health resources and supportive social services.
 
The event on Saturday, June 6th featured:

  • Health education presentations including “Rethink Your Drink” and “Know Your Salt”
  • Toy giveaways for children
  • Food distribution for older adults
  • Family-friendly activities including a game truck and nasheed (live music)

Imam Ahmed Ali Uzir (center), NYC Commissioner on Racial Equity and Director of Community Affairs for the Office of New York State Assemblymember William Colton, spoke to attendees at Healthfirst’s 2nd Annual Eid ul-Adha Celebration in Midwood, Brooklyn on Saturday, June 6th. Imam Ali Uzir, who leads the Iqra Masjid Community and Tradition mosque, joined Miguel Centeno, Healthfirst Vice President of Community Outreach (second from right), for this festive event, which included health education, toy giveaways for children, and food distribution for older New Yorkers.

Council of People’s Organization (COPO), the main sponsor of Healthfirst’s 2nd Annual Eid ul-Adha Celebration, provided giveaways to attendees in Brooklyn on Saturday, June 6th. The event delivered on-site health education and in-language resources to members of the Brooklyn community as well as toy giveaways for kids and food distribution for seniors.
