World Vegan Vision – NY chapter hosts community health program on nutrition and cancer research

Plainview, NY: World Vegan Vision – New York Chapter recently hosted an inspiring and educational community program titled “Dietary Research in Cancer – Food for Thought” at Sai Temple in Plainview, New York. Approximately 80+ attendees participated in the event, which focused on the role of nutrition and lifestyle in supporting health and well-being.

The featured speaker, Dr. Urvi Shah, Multiple Myeloma Specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, shared evidence-based research on the relationship between nutrition, inflammation, gut health, and cancer. Attendees appreciated her ability to translate complex scientific research into practical information that could be applied in everyday life.

A special highlight of the program was the participation of Shalu Nijhawan, Founder of Plant Yum and a SHARAN-certified Holistic Nutrition & Health Coach. Shalu shared her entrepreneurial journey, discussed practical approaches to plant-based living, and conducted a live plant-based salad dressing demonstration. Attendees also enjoyed sampling several of her plant-based products.

The event was further enriched by the presence of Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori, whose pioneering work in cancer prevention and education has inspired countless individuals around the world.

The program concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speakers and gain personalized insights on nutrition, lifestyle, and preventive health.
