Washington: With less than two weeks to go for the presidential elections, Republican nominee Donald Trump hit back at his Democrat rival Kamala Harris, saying she is 'losing badly', especially after stealing the race from "crooked Joe Biden".
"...so now she is increasingly raising her rhetoric, going so far as to call me Adolf Hitler, and anything else that comes to her warped mind,” the 78-year-old wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. He also referred to Harris as “Comrade Kamala Harris” for what he says are her far-left policies and described her as a “threat to democracy.”
Trump's sharp attack came after Harris condemned the former president as a “fascist” who seeks “unchecked power” and desires a military personally loyal to him, following allegations regarding the former president’s repeated admiration for Hitler.
During a CNN Town Hall event this week, Harris said she believed Trump was a fascist. "I also believe that the people who know him best on this subject should be trusted," she added, referring to former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley calling the former president a fascist in Bob Woodward's new book War.
In audio interviews released by The New York Times (NYT), former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, too, said the former president meets the "definition of a fascist". Harris, during the Town Hall, said Trump “demeans people who have taken an oath to sacrifice their life for our country".
In a direct attack on Kelly, Trump called him a “lowlife” on his social media platform Truth Social. Refuting all the anecdotes narrated by Kelly in the interview with NYT, Trump wrote that Kelly is suffering from “pure Trump derangement syndrome.”
As election day nears, Harris is dedicating much of her time to bolstering support in the "blue wall" states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. She aims to prevent a repeat of Hillary Clinton's setback in those states eight years ago.
Bill Gates privately donated $50 mn to Harris's campaignFor years, Bill Gates has chosen to be non-partisan and avoided funding or otherwise supporting presidential candidates. This time, however, the billionaire has decided to donate $50 million to a non-profit organization that is supporting Harris in the close race against her Republican rival and former president Donald Trump, the New York Times reported. Gates, however, has not publicly endorsed Harris and his donation to the non-profit organization, the publication reported. |
