Donald Trump hails Narendra Modi's record tenure as Prime Minister and wishes 'many years of success ahead'.

Washington: US President Donald Trump congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister, describing him as "a Great One" and praising his leadership and prospects.

"Congratulations to my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister – And a Great One he is! He is a strong, healthy, and wise man, and will have many years of Greatness and Success ahead of him!" President Donald Trump said.

PM Modi thanked Trump for his wishes and said that he looks forward to working with him to advance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

Trump's message led a series of congratulatory remarks from American political leaders, business executives and prominent members of the Indian diaspora marking Modi's milestone of 4,399 days in office.

US Senator Ted Cruz congratulated Modi on becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister and said that "this milestone is a testament to his political acumen and leadership."

Nikesh Arora, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Palo Alto Networks, also congratulated Modi. "Congratulating Prime Minister @narendramodi on becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister — 4,399 days of leadership earned through the trust of 1.4 billion people across three democratic mandates," Arora wrote.

Apple CEO Tim Cook congratulated PM Modi on becoming the longest serving PM in India’s history. “Congratulations on becoming the longest serving prime minister elected in India’s history, and thank you for supporting innovation that enriches people’s lives,” Cook posted on X.

American singer Mary Millben described the occasion as "a historic, democratic milestone in the journey of a great Nation."

Modi first assumed office in May 2014 and subsequently secured re-election in 2019 and 2024, making him one of the longest-serving leaders in India's democratic history. During his tenure, India has emerged as one of the world's fastest-growing major economies, expanded its digital public infrastructure, strengthened its role in international institutions and deepened strategic partnerships with major powers, including the United States.

The India-US relationship has witnessed significant growth across defense cooperation, critical and emerging technologies, trade, energy, education and people-to-people exchanges.

G7 Summit: Modi-Trump meet expected

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit taking place in Evian, France on June 16-17, reports said, quoting official sources.

Trump has already announced that he will participate in the G7 summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting will mark the first interaction between Modi and Trump since they last met in February 2025 in Washington, DC.

It is understood that the two sides will cover the bilateral trade pact under negotiation, and other regional and global matters of mutual concern.

Following this, Modi will visit Paris on June 18 for “further bilateral engagements, and to attend the VivaTech Summit, Europe’s largest technology and startup event,” the MEA said. He is also expected to attend a meeting with the Indian community in Paris.
