Moscow: Russia has agreed to help the US in dealing with Iran and Tehran's Nuclear programme. Moscow will also assist its support for regional anti-US proxies, Bloomberg reported.
Trump expressed his willingness to negotiate a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, and dealing with Iran and its nuclear program. Days after Trump and Putin's call, senior ministers of both nations met in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh last month where they discussed Iran and the Ukraine war.
The report, which was picked up by Russian state media, quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying, "Russia believes that the United States and Iran should resolve all problems through negotiations" and that Moscow “is ready to do everything in its power to achieve this.”
Trump last month restored his "maximum pressure" campaign on Iran, which included efforts to drive its oil exports down to zero in order to stop Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, Reuters reported. However, Iran denied any such intention.
Speaking on Moscow extending its support to Washington to mediate talks, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai said that it is natural for nations to extend assistance. "Given the importance of these issues, it is quite possible that many parties will show goodwill and willingness to help in solving various problems," Baghai said.
US halts intel sharing on Russia with UkraineAfter halting all military aid, the US has also paused intelligence-sharing with war-torn Ukraine, which includes data about targets inside Russia, hindering Ukraine's ability to carry out effective long-range drone strikes, sources privy to the matter told news agency Reuters. The move could leave Kyiv in the dark over the movements of Moscow's strategic bomber aircraft and the launches of ballistic missiles. |
