Celebrating India's 79th Independence Day, actor Akshay Kumar took to his social media to share his warm wishes with fans and fellow countrymen. The actor posted a striking photo of India Gate adorned with the national flag and added a heartfelt message that read, "Happy Independence Day. Here's to the freedom that defines us and the pride that unites us. Swatantra Diwas ki shubkamna, Jai Hind."
He also paid respect to beach cleanup volunteers on Independence Day, calling them "real-life heroes". Sharing a smiling group picture, Akshay wrote: "Freedom feels brighter when we care for the ground beneath our feet. Was enjoying beachside volleyball when I met these real-life heroes keeping our beaches clean… all smiles, all heart."
Akshay's journey into patriotic storytelling began with 'Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty' (2014), where he played an Army officer. This was followed by 'Baby' 2015) and later in 'Naam Shabana', in which he portrayed an undercover agent determined to protect the nation.
His portrayal of a naval officer in 'Rustom'(2016), inspired by a real-life case, won him the National Film Award for Best Actor. In 'Kesari' (2019), he played Havildar Ishar Singh, leading the iconic Battle of Saragarhi. Films like 'Airlift' (2016) also carried strong messages. The actor was last seen in 'Sky Force', a film based on the Indian Air Force's historic missions. He is all set to make a comeback with 'Jolly LLB 3', a courtroom comedy-drama directed by Subhash Kapoor.
