After hitting a roadblock due to the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) demanding cuts, actor-producer Aamir Khan’s 'Sitaare Zameen Par' now appears to be back on track and heading towards a smooth release.

The film will be released in theatres across India on its scheduled date, 20 June 2025. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the filmmakers confirmed that 'Sitaare Zameen Par' received CBFC clearance. It is still unclear how the two parties have reached a mutual agreement.

The CBFC had reportedly asked for two specific cuts, which Aamir and his director, RS Prasanna, didn't agree with. They insisted that the film should be shown as it is.

Interestingly, the film has already been approved in the United Kingdom. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has given it a 12A rating, meaning it can be viewed by children under 12 if accompanied by an adult. The BBFC noted that the film contains some references to discrimination and mild sexual content, but found it suitable for public release.

Directed by R S Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a spiritual successor to Khan’s 2007 hit ‘Taare Zameen Par’. It stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh.

It marks the acting debut of 10 neurodivergent actors - Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

An official remake of the 2018 Spanish film ‘Campeones’, the story follows a suspended basketball coach who is ordered to serve community service by training a team of players with disabilities as they prepare for a major tournament.
