The Cannes Film Festival is expected to see a broad turnout from India this year, with actors, filmmakers, and producers from several industries likely to attend. Actor Alia Bhatt is reportedly set to return to the festival after making an appearance at the film festival last year.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Aishwarya will return to Cannes as a global ambassador for L’Oréal. Actor Tara Sutaria is set to make her Cannes red carpet debut this year, ahead of the release of her film 'Toxic' later this year.

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is also set to be part of the official Indian delegation in his role as the newly appointed director of the International Film Festival of India.
The Indian presence is likely to extend beyond Bollywood this time. Names from Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam cinema are also expected to travel to Cannes. Punjabi cinema actors Ammy Virk and Roopi Gill are taking their film 'Chardikala' to the festival.
Gujarati cinema will be represented by actor-producer Mansi Parekh, and Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram, best known for 'Manjummel Boys', will take his upcoming film 'Balan: The Boy' to Cannes.
Held at the French Riviera every summer, Cannes is widely seen as one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals. This year, the festival will run from May 12 to 23.
Indian student's film enters La Cinef'Shadows of the Moonless Nights', a short film directed by Film and Television Institute of India student Mehar Malhotra, has been selected for the La Cinef Competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival. The film, having a runtime of 24 minutes, is competing in the segment alongside 14 live-action and five animated shorts, dedicated to showcasing fictional and animated films by film school students. Titled 'Parchave Masseah Rataan De' in Punjabi, the film follows Rajan, a weary factory worker, who endures grueling shifts and a volatile home life, drifting through sleepless nights in the city as he tries to reclaim the rest that always seems just out of reach. |
