Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who is currently embroiled in an unresolved dispute over 'Don 3' with Ranveer Singh, has been approached to play legendary music composer RD Burman, also known as Pancham Da, in a biopic, a Pinkvilla report said.

The producers are keen to cast Farhan in the lead role in the upcoming Neeraj Pandey directorial, the report said, citing a source. The film is being envisioned as a tribute to the iconic composer, whose songs continue to connect with audiences across generations. The report said Neeraj has been developing the biopic for some time and that the script is moving ahead quickly.

The report claimed that Farhan is in discussions to play RD Burman and is enthusiastic about bringing Pancham Da's life to the screen. The source added that if the project goes ahead as planned, Farhan will undergo extensive preparation for the role. The same source also said the makers have secured the rights to several R D Burman compositions that defined an era of Indian cinema, and that music sessions have already begun to ensure the best possible versions of the original songs are used in the film.

R D Burman was one of India's most influential music composers. He made his debut as an independent composer with the 1961 film 'Chhote Nawab' and went on to revolutionize Hindi film music with his style. His best-known songs include Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Dum Maro Dum, Mehbooba Mehbooba and Tere Bina Zindagi Se. Burman died on January 4, 1994.

'The B***ds Of Bollywood 2' filming to begin in 2027?

Aryan Khan’s much-talked-about series 'The B**ds Of Bollywood' is reportedly gearing up for its second season, with the latest reports suggesting that the project could go on floors in the first quarter of 2027. While an official announcement is still awaited, the update has already generated excitement among fans eager to see what the young filmmaker has planned next.

Mid-day has quoted a source saying, “The effort right now is to make sure the writing feels fresh and original, rather than simply repeating what worked the first time. Bilal Siddiqi, who was a key creative force behind the first season, is actively working on the scripts".

“Yes, season two is happening. It’s in the works. I’m hopeful that audiences are going to see more of me in the second season," actor Rajat Bedi confirmed.
