Punjabi actors Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, and Sonam Bajwa, amongst others, have rallied to help the victims in the flood-affected areas of Punjab. The severe flooding, caused by heavy rainfall, has claimed at least 29 lives across 12 districts. From adopting villages to donating money, the celebrities are providing critical support, both in immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts.
Dosanjh has joined forces with NGOs and local authorities to adopt 10 villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. His team is focused on providing essentials like food, water, and medical aid. The actor-singer shared the update on his Instagram story.
Virk has pledged to assist 200 families affected by the flood. He expressed his distress at seeing the living conditions of the people in Punjab. In an Instagram post, the actor stated, "Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter, it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again (sic)."
Earlier, actor Sonu Sood also reaffirmed his commitment to help. In an Instagram post, he stated, "Together with all of you, we will get everyone back on their feet. Punjab is my soul. Even if it takes everything, I will not back down. We are Punjabis, and we do not give up (sic)."
Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and Ajay Devgn took to their social media platforms to send prayers and strength to the affected families
Other stars like Gippy Grewal, Himanshi Khurana, and Karan Aujla are also actively supporting the relief efforts. The outpouring of support from celebrities comes as thousands in Punjab continue to struggle with the impact of the floods.
