Actor and producer Aamir Khan has confirmed that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is developing '3 Idiots 2', more than a decade after '3 Idiots' became a phenomenon.

Speaking about the project, Aamir revealed that he had heard the story and described it as “wonderful”, noting that the script is still being refined. According to Aamir, the sequel will pick up the lives of Rancho, Farhan, and Raju nearly 10 years after the events of the original film.

Aamir also expressed excitement about stepping back into the role of Phunsukh Wangdu. Calling it a “beautiful story” conceived by Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi, he said he is looking forward to revisiting the character.

Released in 2009, '3 Idiots' starred Aamir alongside R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film struck a chord with audiences for its take on India’s education system, friendship, and the idea of choosing passion over societal expectations.

Aamir also shared that his planned reunion with Hirani for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke has been put on hold due to script-related issues. Separately, reports suggest that Aamir is in talks to portray BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover in a biopic.
