A biopic on Bollywood’s Tragedy Queen Meena Kumari, titled ‘Kamal Aur Meena’, was announced by Siddharth P Malhotra last year. Since then, fans have been curious to know which actress will portray the legendary actress in the film. Now, according to a Mid Day report, Kiara Advani has been finalized to play Meena Kumari in 'Kamal Aur Meena'. This reportedly marks her first film shoot since welcoming her first child with Sidharth Malhotra in July this year.
A source told Mid Day, “The negotiations were going on for months. In Kiara, the director has found a performer who carries vintage Bollywood charm and has the emotional depth to do justice to Meena Kumari’s life."
The report further states that the shoot for 'Kamal Aur Meena' will commence in the first half of 2026. Another source told the portal, “It gives Kiara enough time to prepare, as she will have to pick up the basics of Urdu." Meanwhile, the hunt for the male lead is currently on.
Sidharth P Malhotra, in collaboration with Saregama and the Amrohi family, has secured the rights for ‘Kamal Aur Meena’, which will bring to life the epic, real-life romance between the legendary director-screenwriter Kamal Amrohi and the celebrated actress Meena Kumari.
Kiara was last seen in ‘War 2’ with Hrithik Roshan. She will next be seen in ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, starring Yash, Nayanthara, and others.
